Our Story

I purchased my first Borzoi, Silver, from Steppes Borzoi in California in May 2020 and began showing him in March of 2021 in our home state of Pennsylvania and the tri-state areas of Ohio, West Virginia, and Maryland. Silver has taught me so much about what it means to be a steward and advocate of the breed. He was ranked the #15 NOHS Borzoi of 2021 despite missing 25% of the qualifying period.

“Cherenkov” as a name is a nod to a few things——my career field and the country of origin and speed of the Borzoi breed. If geekily inclined, you can read more about that here.

Cherenkov Kennel is my eventual goal (circa 2035——if I can ever learn enough to feel confident raising puppies, that is!) For now, Cherenkov Borzoi is focused on the sharing of knowledge for new inductees to the breed, the promotion of ethical breeding, and the conservation and preservation of the Borzoi breed.

My goals for 2022 are to complete the following:

☐ finish my first (conformation) champion,

☐ work toward his Field Championship (FC) title,

☑ become a member of the Borzoi Club of America (BCOA), and

☐ become a member of the Midwest Borzoi Club (MBC).
